Fort De Soto Park Located at the southern end of Pinellas County, Florida, it once was inhabited by the Tocobaga Indians. The shores have seen the likes of Panfilo de Narvaez, Hernando De Soto, Pirates and Robert E. Lee of whom was among a group of Army Engineers that surveyed the area before building the fort. Sunshine Beach--John's Pass Florida John Levique a former pirate had a land claim here. He buried a small chest of gold somewhere in this vicinity after he retired from piracy. A great storm with hurricane force winds and a high water surge cut a path through the land of Levique's (now known as John's Pass). The shoreline was considerably different when he returned and his treasure was nowhere to be found. It could have been buried where the pass was created and swept into the bay, or it could still be there somewhere waiting to be found…

Detector Tip: Don't Zig Zag When searching for a target, keep your detector in front of your body moving it from left to right or a side to side motion. Do not "zig zag" indicated in the diagram below. You will miss a lot of ground and possible targets.
